Get Your Business Wrapped Up For Christmas and 2021

As the festive season and new year approach us, it’s a great time to tie up any loose ends in your business and set plans in motion for 2021. Here are some ideas we’ve come up with to give you a head start before January.

Communicate with clients.

This year has been a strange one, to say the least, with businesses changing their opening times, availability and even the nature of their businesses. Let your customers know how you’re going to be operating (if at all) over the Christmas period. This could be achieved easily by dropping them an email or posting a note on social media.

Even if not much is changing for you, it’s still a good idea to let them know when you’ll be available, or simply to wish them a happy new year.

Chase late payments.

Late payments are a real grinch! A recent report highlighted that small businesses in the UK are owed on average £6,142, and mostly by larger firms not paying them for goods and services on time.

Cash flow issues are a huge problem for small business owners, so if you’re currently experiencing this due to late payers, you’re not alone.

As the end of the year approaches, be sure to chase those people who haven’t paid up. We’ve written a blog post on encouraging clients to pay on time here

Do a review of your tech.

With the rise of remote working, there has no doubt been an increase in the number of apps and digital tools being used in your business.

Now is the time to reflect on whether everything you’re investing in is working for you. Perhaps you signed up for a trial of an app in March that you no longer need, or you’re team is using lots of different pieces of software to solve one solution – take some time to check and refine what software you really need in your business.

Plan for 2021.

We’re sure you’ve got plenty of ideas and goals for the new year already, but have you thought about your business technology?

During your tech review (mentioned above), have a think about the areas of your business you’d like to improve, or any problems you need to solve in January.

For example, it could be to improve communication between those working at home and those in the office or to strengthen your cybersecurity.

Set some time aside to figure out what actions you need to take to achieve these goals and what you may need to invest in.
