5 Apps To Help You Sleep

Being a business owner is a lot of work. Most of the time, you’re in charge of sales, marketing, human resources, accounting and IT – a jack of all trades, if you will. Especially in the early days, you can feel overwhelmed with all of the tasks to complete when it feels like time is running out. Allowing time for yourself to relax and rest is often put to one side while you focus on getting your business up and running.

Apps To Help You Sleep

Meanwhile, if you’re not well-rested, your performance is affected by even the most basic of tasks. Lack of sleep contributes to so many issues for your productivity, especially if you’re a sole trader or a freelancer.

A study in 2010 observed 4,000 workers and their sleeping habits. It was found that those who were sleep-deprived were less motivated, had difficulty focusing, remembering things and making sound decisions.

We’ve rounded up our favourite apps to help you make the most out of your sleep as well as those apps that help you manage your productivity.

1. Google Calendar.

Having a calendar shows you where you are spending your time. Maybe you could move all meetings to one day of the week instead of three different days? Batching certain tasks leaves you much more time to relax at the end of the working day. You can colour-code tasks and projects so you can keep track of them better.

2. Toggl.

Tracking your time is equally important in learning how to be more productive. Do you look at your emails more than a couple of times a day? Are you spending far too much time on social media? Log everything into Toggl for one week and see where you are wasting some time. Maybe you could get on with some business admin while having a Netflix binge once a week? Multi-tasking can be a saviour!

3. Fitbit.

If you have a wearable and don’t sync it to the app, you need to pronto! It will show you the different sleep stages you’ve had, and then you can work out why you’ve had a lighter night’s sleep, often by what types of food you’ve eaten before as they can be triggers. Log your food and water intake, as well as any exercise, and see if any particular foods are causing you to have a restless night’s sleep.

4. SleepBot.

If you want to learn even more about your sleep, this is the app for you. It can be used as a smart alarm that wakes you up gradually, provide you with reminders that you need to go to bed at a pre-defined time and provides insights into your sleeping patterns. It even provides sound recordings of you in your sleep, not ideal if you’re a snorer or talk in your sleep though!

5. Pzizz.

NHS-approved, Pzizz provides music and sound to help you fall asleep. It can be set for naps as well as regular sleep and you can set the duration as well as the type of sounds you want to hear.

Getting a better night’s sleep doesn’t necessarily mean sleeping for longer; it can be about ensuring better quality sleep. Trying a mixture of some or all of these apps should contribute to helping you feel more relaxed and rested!
